    Happy Birthday Grandma!

    Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

We went to St. Louis over Labor Day weekend to spend time with Grandma for her 80th Birthday! It was a lot of fun and we sure did cram a lot into a quick weekend!

We left Friday around lunch and the trip seemed to take longer than usual for some reason. We still can’t figure out why it took 6 hours but it did. We had dinner at Grandma’s house and stayed with Aunt Teri for the weekend! Saturday, we had a party for Grandma at Aunt Teri’s and had a great time. Grandma was really happy we were all there! She was a little iffy on her gift which was golf lessons but she did enjoy the blown up photo of her playing golf at a Cousin’s reunion, her painting from Aunt Dena, and the other gifts!

We went to the Cardinals game that afternoon and were a little worried about the weather. It was 102 degrees out as we were getting to the game, but a storm came in and it dropped 30 degrees while we were there. So, it became a lot of fun hanging out in the stands (luckily, we were covered from the rain). Cardinals won 6-4!

Connor stayed back with Aunt Teri and slept for 4 hours! Aunt Teri was bummed she didn’t get to play with Connor. We had dinner when we got back and got ready for the next morning.

On Sunday, we went Apple Picking! We had never done that before and it was a lot of fun! Got some great photos of Connor eating an apple in the orchard! Had a family style lunch at a Hotel and headed home. We spent the afternoon hanging out at home with people taking turns seeing movies! Beth and I got to go see Crazy Stupid Love and it was a good choice!

On Monday, it was time to head home. We had breakfast at Grandma’s, packed up, said our goodbye’s and headed home! I’ve posted the pictures here!

    5/12/11 – Cardinals (9) vs. Cubs (1)

Got to try something new today! Now that I’ve been working downtown, I thought it would be a ton of fun to take a half day and catch a ballgame! The Cardinals were in Chicago for a 3 game series against the Cubs. We caught the last game of the 3 game set and boy was it a ton of fun!

I went with a few guys from work and had a great time. Weather was awesome since it had been raining and cool for a couple weeks before the game. We sat in the bleachers and caught a lot of sun! Ran into Caitlin at Murphy’s Bleachers and was able to hang out with her for a bit before the game and afterwards!

The Cardinals ended up winning the game 9-1. Holliday had a HR and the runs came pouring in during the 2nd and 7th! So glad we got to see a win because usually when I go to the games against the Cubs they lose!

    Go Cardinals!!!

    Go Redbirds!

    1/23/11 – Packers (21) vs. Bears (14)

2010 NFC Championship Game between the Packers and the Bears. Two storied football teams and one of the biggest games Chicago had ever seen. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go to the game after getting a call from a friend with tickets. They were face value in Section 125, couldn’t beat that! Leading up to the game, I had mixed emotions because I wasn’t sure which team would show up on offense for the Bear. Boy, were my worries answered on the first drive. The Packers marched right down the field, 20 yards a chunk. 7-0 Packers in the first few minutes of the game. Sigh. The game only got worse from there it seemed offensively. Cutler got hurt in the 2nd quarter and was pulled after the first series in the 3rd. No one in the stadium knew what was happening with him and really didn’t want to see Todd Collins in there. Hanie came in after two series and that’s when the game got fun! Hanie and the team made a game of it in the 4th quarter and that’s when it was really a championship game. The crowd was in it, the team was playing very well and I had lost my voice :)

At the end of the day, we didn’t beat the Packers for the second time in a few weeks. They were the better team that day and deserve to be heading to the Super Bowl! Beth and I had a great time experiencing a NFC Championship game but I wish the outcome was a bit different (as I’m sure all Bears fans do)!

Here is a great video on all of the backlash Cutler was receiving after getting injured and pulled out by the medical staff. Check it out if you are a Bears fan! Might soften the blow a little!

Oh and by the way, GO STEELERS!!!

    12/12/10 – Patriots (36) vs. Bears (7)

What a great day for football! Wind was blowing snow sideways, field was covered with snow and grown men were out there smashing each other! We had a great group and had tons of fun. The only bad part was that the Bears didn’t even show up and go worked. The last play of the half was a 60 yard TD from Brady to Branch. I bet $20 to Robert to take off his shirt at half for the length of a song and he came through! Let’s hope we meet the Patriots again in a few weeks!

    10/17/10 – Seahawks (23) vs. Bears (20)

What a beautiful day! We had the opportunity to go to the Bears game and took Connor with us. He had a blast and was the talk of the section! He did really great during the game and took a snooze during the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately, the Bears couldn’t get their act together in the 4th quarter to win the game. Cutler was taken down 6 times including a safety. Hester tied the NFL record for return TD’s so that was cool to witness! Connor seems to be the good luck charm for history in the making games (remember his first Cardinals game that went 20 innings!).

    Go Bears!

    10/9/10 – Purdue (20) vs. Northwestern (17)

What a great Saturday for a football game! We dropped Kiley off at Grandma Debbie’s and Conman at Grandpa Lee’s for the night on Saturday and made our way downtown to Evanston. On the way, we stopped at the Yard House which has over 100 Beers on Tap! It was a great place to have a drink and some food. We found a campus bar on the way to the game and met some great company. We got to talking to two professors – one from Purdue and one from U of I. We got into the stadium a little late but still saw a great game with Purdue coming out on top! Northwestern missed a game tying field goal with a few minutes left in the game.

    Great Seats!
