    Happy Birthday Grandma!

    September 6th, 2011 by Matt

We went to St. Louis over Labor Day weekend to spend time with Grandma for her 80th Birthday! It was a lot of fun and we sure did cram a lot into a quick weekend!

We left Friday around lunch and the trip seemed to take longer than usual for some reason. We still can’t figure out why it took 6 hours but it did. We had dinner at Grandma’s house and stayed with Aunt Teri for the weekend! Saturday, we had a party for Grandma at Aunt Teri’s and had a great time. Grandma was really happy we were all there! She was a little iffy on her gift which was golf lessons but she did enjoy the blown up photo of her playing golf at a Cousin’s reunion, her painting from Aunt Dena, and the other gifts!

We went to the Cardinals game that afternoon and were a little worried about the weather. It was 102 degrees out as we were getting to the game, but a storm came in and it dropped 30 degrees while we were there. So, it became a lot of fun hanging out in the stands (luckily, we were covered from the rain). Cardinals won 6-4!

Connor stayed back with Aunt Teri and slept for 4 hours! Aunt Teri was bummed she didn’t get to play with Connor. We had dinner when we got back and got ready for the next morning.

On Sunday, we went Apple Picking! We had never done that before and it was a lot of fun! Got some great photos of Connor eating an apple in the orchard! Had a family style lunch at a Hotel and headed home. We spent the afternoon hanging out at home with people taking turns seeing movies! Beth and I got to go see Crazy Stupid Love and it was a good choice!

On Monday, it was time to head home. We had breakfast at Grandma’s, packed up, said our goodbye’s and headed home! I’ve posted the pictures here!

    Running…

    July 30th, 2011 by Matt

Last night, Beth and I accomplished something we had set to do in the fall and that is run a 5k! Now, this wasn’t an official event or anything but Beth and I did run for 3.5 miles in 48 minutes! Super excited that we were able to do it and we aren’t even that sore today!

Grandma Debbie had come over for dinner last night and once Connor was in bed, we set off! We ran 1.5 miles at first, walked a couple blocks and then ran to 2.75 miles. At that point, we were close to home and walked along Lakewood. I wasn’t going home until we hit 3.1 miles and we exceded that.

The official time at 3.2 miles (which I thought was a 5k) was 42 minutes! We walked the rest of the way home and hit the 3.5 mile mark!

The couch never felt better last night after a shower!

    Allergies

    July 20th, 2011 by Matt

    So…

Kiley has had some issues lately with allergies. Eyes watering and itchy, we all know the drill! Its kind of started out of the blue and hasn’t been an every day thing so we have taken our time checking into what its from.

We had her tested late last week at the pediatricians office and she had a nice bruise from the blood work! She kept talking about it that’s for sure!

We got the results last night and I’m sure Beth would want me to get the numbers right if I were to put them here so I’ll pass on that.

But, we found out her numbers are really high for DOG allergies! We didn’t see that coming at all! Figured it was seasonal allergies or something other than dogs!

Gizmo should be safe for us because he is non-shedding and hypo-allergenic. We will just have to do some precautionary stuff like more frequent grooming, baths, keep him out of the girls room, etc.

Next step is seeing an allergist to pin point some more stuff! Just hope when she’s older she isn’t blaming me for her allergy/sinus issues!
