Wonder what families in cars or people outside thought of our adventure last night!
After hanging out with the family for Father’s Day, I had wanted to go for a bike ride with Ella. We were going to try to teach her how to ride her bike without training wheels but the weather got in the way.
Around 7:30, after fixing the hot water heater and the rain stopping, we decide to go for a family jog. Yes, I did say “jog.”
Beth scored a double jogging stroller from work so it was time to test it out. The kids were excited, Ella was going to bring Gizmo and we were off.
It started off rough but I took over jogging with Gizmo and then we hit our stride. Ella had a blast running in front of us, behind us when she got tired and laying in the grass to be silly! By the time we got to the end of Ackman, Kiley wanted to jog, the dog was tired and Ella was cramping up!
So, what is one to do when you are a mile from home? Keep going was our choice! We put Gizmo in the bottom of the jogger, Kiley got out and ran with us (in her pjs non the less) and Ella took her spot in the jogger for a bit.
Oh but wait, of course Ella would want out again soon, Kiley would want back in and the rotation kept happening till we got home. At one point, Kiley sat on Ella’s lap in the jogger while we ran. Gizmo looked like a little toy dog that you put in a purse. He just sat there!
Connor just chilled and only fussed when we would stop. It was fun for us, but I’m sure people observing this thought we were nuts!
As for running, Beth and I decided a few weeks ago to get our butts in gear. We have been running after the kids are in bed for 20-30minutes. It’s been great trying to do this and our goal is to do a 5K in the fall. That way we have something to keep working at it for! Beth is able to jog 2 miles now and I’m up to 1.3 miles (all without stopping)! We didn’t even do this well when we were in middle school!
Wish us luck!
