    Surgery/Mother’s Day

    Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

As most of you know by now, I had to have my gallbladder removed last Friday. I guess it’s an Evenson woman thing since my sister had hers out in February, my mom in late March and now me. Crazy!!! I started having symptoms that Monday and tried to ignore it for a few days. I started having a lot of pain and feeling really sick so decided to just go into the ER to have all of the tests done and see the surgeon right away. Sure enough, the gallbladder needed to be removed. I got to go home that night and come in for out patient surgery the next day.

I seriously thought that this surgery was going to be no big deal since I had just been through a C Section. There was no way it could be anywhere near as bad as that. YEAH RIGHT! Believe it or not, this has been a much more difficult recovery than the C Section in my opinion. I just feel that it is much more painful and difficult to move with having 4 incisions all over my abdomen and having an organ actually removed I guess. I have been home all week from work. Thankfully, our families have helped out a ton with the kiddos. Grandma Debbie picked the girls up from day care on Friday and Connor spent the day with Grandma Marsha, Aunt Jill, and cousin Jakey. My mom, sister, and John helped out on Monday as well here at the house since the kids don’t go to day care on Mondays and Matty had a big presentation at work.

Matt has been SO awesome through this whole ordeal. He has been taking such good care of me, doing everything that needs to be done with the kids, taking care of the house, and having an enormous amount of things going on at work at the same time! We are all SO lucky to have him!!!

On a side note, I had a wonderful Mother’s day! Because I was only 2 days post-op, everyone stopped by here for a little while to hang out with us. We had My parents, John, Jill, and Jakey, Donny, Debbie, and Aunt Lori here with us. It was kind of an improptu little party. It was nice to just visit for a little while before taking a nice afternoon family nap. All in all, it was a great day, and I felt very special. I am so blessed to be the mommy of 3 amazing kids!!

So I have a few more days to recover and then its back to work next week. Let’s see how that goes :)

Also, my parents moved into an awesome new house in Schaumburg last weekend! We are so happy for them. It is such a nice place and I know we will all be gathering there often. We actually already had our first gathering there last night with all of us and Aunt Marsha, Aunt Lora and Grandma. Thanks Mom for a yummy dinner!! It was nice to visit with Auntie Lora one more time before she headed home to Mexico this morning. It is always nice when she comes to visit but that time goes way too fast!

    First of May!

    Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Great way to start off the month of May with Allison’s Bachelorette Party! I’m at home with the kids and having a great time. Beth is downtown with everyone for the party and having a blast! We were able to catch a glimpse of Allison, Beth, Mallory, Peg and Janine in the bleachers on WGN! I’m going to try and post a pic later!

Beth left early this morning and Kiley, Connor and I played until it was time for gymnastics. With help from Grandma Debbie, we were able to have a great gymnastics class. We got McD’s for lunch and then it was nap time for both kids. Ella came home from a few day trip with her grandparents from Indiana around 2pm. It got a little crazy at 3 with Connor needing to eat and Kiley getting up from her nap all while I was working out, yikes!

We are back to normal again after a bath for Connor and a movie for the girls! Here are a few pics from today and look for a post about the game from Beth later today or tomorrow (knowing her)!

    Smiley Baby for Easter Weekend!

    Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Ok, just wanted to post a few pics of Connor smiling and laughing! They are super cute! The kids are having a great Easter. We had Easter Baskets to open this morning as well as an indoor egg hunt!

We had a great day at Grandma Debbie’s yesterday with the kids getting some neat stuff! Connor got a White Sox warm up outfit, the girls got some great outfits and pajamas as well. Tons of candy of course, especially cotton candy (daddy’s favorite too)! Lunch was great and the kids were worn out by the time we got home.

We will be doing it all again shortly at Aunt Eve’s house. Hope everyone has a great Easter!

    FAIL

    Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

It’s Tuesday and I’m on the train to work. I haven’t taken the train in about a week and after an expensive parking ticket, I’m going to be taking it more again. Good Times!

Team Saip had a great weekend! We were able to spend the weekend with Nana and Papa and had a blast. All the ladies enjoyed Allison’s Bridal Shower (every time I type that I always think Baby Shower and have to stop myself). However, Beth forgot our camera so we only have a few pics from the Shower. FAIL.

Other than that, I had a great time out with the Boros clan Saturday afternoon. We had the Saips over after the shower and watched the movie Hachi. It’s based on a true story about a Dog and his Master (Richard Gere). Ella loved it and has watched it a few times since.

On Sunday, we had breakfast with Nana and Papa (actually, the whole gang came) and did some stuff around the house. It was a quiet afternoon until the dog got under the fence and Kiley got up from her nap (wetting the bed).

This week is off to a good start with work and hopefully is a quick one. We have many plans this weekend for Easter and it can’t come soon enough! Grandma Debbie’s on Saturday and Aunt Eve’s on Sunday!

Check back soon for a link to all of the professional photos we had taken! I’ve got 300+ posted to Kodak and will post the link later today.

    Sick Sick Sick…

    Monday, February 15th, 2010

So I thought it was about time to update the site on what has been going on around here these last few days. Things have been a little crazy to say the least. It all kind of started a week ago this last Friday with Kiley (2/5). She had a cold starting back before Connor was born, but just couldn’t get rid of it. During that time, every once in a while, she would wake up during the night and throw up. We just thought this was from the mucus in her throat or from coughing and gagging (which it very well may have been). From Friday night until the following Wednesday, Kiley did this every night except Monday night. So by Thursday, I called the Doctor.

Meanwhile, little Connor was coming down with a cold, having a stuffy nose starting this last Tuesday then progressing with a cough. When I made the appointment with the Dr. for Kiley, I made one for Connor too. So at the Dr. Thursday afternoon, Connor was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis and Kiley was given an antibiotic to get her over whatever bug she had once and for all. We were told to watch Connor closely because he might get worse before he gets better. Needless to say, that is exactly what happened.

So Thursday night, Connor was wheezing and struggling to breathe. I called the Dr. and they wanted us to come in to the office. As soon as she took one look at him, she said that we needed to go to the hospital. We were admitted to Good Shepherd Hospital right away. Connor did very well, he perked up really quickly with breathing treatments. We were there for 24 hours with a little bit of oxygen for the first few hours then only breathing treatments every 4 hours. We went home Friday night with a nebulizer for home to do the treatments. Connor did fine during the night and we had a follow up appointment at 11 the next morning.

Meanwhile… while we were at the hospital on Friday, Matt dropped the girls off at daycare so that he could be here with us. We got a call letting us know that 5 kids had called in sick with the stomach flu and they were closing day care until Monday. UGH!!! So, Matt went and picked the girls up and I was left here with Connor by myself. Debbie came to pick up the girls after work so that Matt could come up here. The chaos continued when Ella threw up in the car on the way to Debbie’s. UGH!!! So, Matt turned around to go home, but Debbie wanted to get the girls to her house because we were bringing Connor home that night and he couldn’t be around Ella. Thank God Debbie kept them! We couldn’t thank her enough for that.

So we came home late Friday night like I said and everything seemed fine. We did all of his breathing treatments during the night and tried to get a little sleep. Our appt was at 11:15 and Connor was due for a breathing treatment at 11:30 so we brought the stuff with us. Ella only threw up 4 times or so and Kiley didn’t get sick that night at all. We waited forever for the Dr. and were way past the 4 hour mark for the treatment, but the Dr. took one look at Connor and asked why we were not still at the hospital. We gave him the breathing treatment, but his O2 sats were still at 84% (for those of you that don’t know, that is not good). So, back to the hospital we went.

Here is where the chaos really begins. Connor and I have been here at the hospital since Saturday and Matt has been home with the girls. He was able to bring my stuff back here before meeting Debbie back at the house with the girls. Kiley started not feeling well Saturday with a cough and runny nose. She also started with a fever Saturday night. Awesome!! Connor has been doing ok now. He has had his ups and downs, been on oxygen the whole time we have been here and had his breathing treatments. Finally the Dr. that was here yesterday, ordered deep suctioning which I had been asking about since Auntie Jessy told me about it. That seemed to help a lot. He is doing much better now. He is eating better, more alert and just more comfortable. They took him off of oxygen this morning and he seems to be doing really well so far. We have to stay here for a while off of oxygen just to make sure he keeps his Sats up. So far, so good (my fingers are crossed)! We are really hoping to go home tonight, but know that he if he needs to be here one more night, we will get through it.

Yesterday, my parents and John and Jill made a bunch of food and brought it up here for Matt to have at the house. This was a big help, and we greatly appreciate it. It has been hard for all of them because they can’t really help with the girls or come up here. My mom can’t be anywhere near any of these kids right now. It is just too much of a risk. And We can’t risk Jakey getting RSV because he would still get really sick at his age. RSV really only affects kids…the younger the worse it is. In a healthy adult, it is really only a minor cold. Debbie has really been one of the only people that could help us during all of this and we appreciate everything she has done more than we can say!!!

Today, thankfully, Allison and Donnie are going to go to our house to hang out with the girls while Matt comes here for a little while. We greatly appreciate their help as well. It is really hard to be here by myself for many reasons. As you all know, I am not one who is ever by herself for very long, gets bored really easily and can’t stay in my house for long, let alone in this hospital room. I am going a little nutty in here. Not to mention missing my girls unbelievably!!! I haven’t seen them since Thursday night except for on iChat. Matt has been great both with the girls and having to be back and forth here as much as possible. I know it has been really hard on him too.

I know this is a really long post. I was trying to be as detailed as possible so that you all could understand everything that has been going on. Right now, we are just hoping to get home ASAP with a healthy baby, to avoid anyone else getting the stomach flu and to get Kiley bug better at home. Her fever did break yesterday so that is good. It has been a trying time, to say the least, but thanks to the help from our family and some inner strength that we have found, we are getting through it. It makes me really understand what some of the families that I work with have gone through with sick kids. This doesn’t even compare, but is a small taste of what they go through.

Hopefully we will have a better week this week!!!!!
