    07/24/10 – Cardinals (5) vs. Cubs (6)

This post is a little late but I wanted to still put it up! We had a great weekend in July when the Cardinals were in town playing the Cubs! On Saturday, July 24th, we threw our 2nd Annual Cubs/Cardinals viewing party at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. We had a smaller crowd than last year but the new faces certainly made it a great time! The Cubs ended up winning the game but it didn’t matter we still had a great time! Tom, Austin, Keith, Chris and Amanda were all introduced to the family shot!

    Family Shot!

Special thanks to the everyone who helped with watching the kids for us! Kiley was in Madison, WI with Grandpa Lee and Grandma Sue. Ella was at a Baby Shower with Grandma Marsha and Grandpa Mark. Connor was at home with Grandma Debbie!

    07/25/10 – Cardinals (4) vs. Cubs (3)

The very same weekend a few of us from the Sports Department at Americaneagle.com headed to the Sunday Night game! We have seats in the left field bleachers first row! It was a great game with the Cardinals winning it in extra innings with a HR by Felipe Lopez! I was hoping to get on TV but didn’t seem to. I did catch a glimpse of us in highlight video on MLB.com for Pujols HR. You have to look close at the end of the clip in the upper left corner. There is a fan in a cardinals hat with his arms spread out talking crap to the guys he’s with! That would be me!!!

    Crazy Weekend!

    Monday, June 28th, 2010

We had a blast on Saturday at Mystic Waters in Des Plaines with Auntie Jill, Uncle John, Jakey, and Grandma Debbie. It was such a fun place for all of us! The kids really loved the splash park, the slides, the zero depth pool, and the lazy river. Ella went on her first big water slide, and wasn’t a huge fan. The big kids had a lot of fun too going down the big slides, the shoot slides, and relaxing on the lazy river. I haven’t been to a water park in years, and I don’t want to wait that long to go again!! The kids were all exhausted, but didn’t completely crash in the car on the way home like we thought. Saturday night we had Grandma Debbie, Grandpa Mark, and Grandma Marsha over for a little BBQ. John and Jill were supposed to come too, but Jakey had enough with the water park and needed his bed.

    Fun in the Sun!

So we thought the kids would all sleep really well so we would get a good nights sleep on Saturday night. Boy we were mistaken on that one. Connor woke up around 1 and I could hear in his throat that he had croup. He wasn’t coughing too bad, but I took him into the bathroom an put the shower on for steam. We gave him a nebulizer treatment and he went back to sleep sounding ok. He woke up again at 3:15 coughing really bad. We gave him another nebulizer treatment and did the steam thing again. This time when he fell back asleep, he was breathing really loud and didn’t sound good at all. I had him sleep right by me. At about 5:15 or so he woke up again. This time he sounded aweful!! We tried the nebulizer, but he was just getting so upset because of the coughing. We tried the steam, but he seemed to be gasping for air. I knew we needed to go to the hospital at that point. With the girls sleeping, and not wanting to get in the car with him by myself at that point, we called 911. The paramedics came and quickly assessed him. He was breathing hard, heart rate high, coughing, and retracting, but his O2 sats were ok. I got into the ambulance with him and off to the new Sherman Hospital we went. He was such a good boy through the whole ordeal. He even smiled at the paramedics in the ambulance. They were great at the hospital too. Connor was charming all the ladies with his big smile. They gave him a steroid and a saline breathing treatment which seemed to help pretty quickly. Even though he didn’t feel so good, he still managed to seem happy. That was until they put in an IV and put him in a torture chamber for a chest x-ray. The Dr. came in to let me know that he had croup (of course), bronchiolitis, and the start of pneumonia. He gave us an antibiotic and a steroid and sent us home.

Matt and the girls came to pick us up, and we drove home in a huge thunder storm. We were so exhausted that we just laid around all day watching movies. I got to take a little nap with Connor in the afternoon which was much needed. We didn’t get anything done around the house like I had wanted to, but oh well.

Connor had a much better night last night. We were nervous because sometimes the second night is worse than the first, but he did ok. Hopefully we are on the mend and no one else will get sick now. It might be a crazy week this week too. We don’t have day care as Lisa had her baby on Saturday! Congrats to Lisa and Jeff on the birth of little Xander. We can’t wait to meet him! The kids are all over the place this week, but it should be a fun change for them. It just might make us crazy getting them to and from where they need to be while we work.

    Still Happy!

    Happy Father’s Day!!

    Monday, June 21st, 2010

Happy Father’s Day to all of you daddies out there!!! I would like to wish a very special happy Father’s day to my dad, my father-in-law Lee, and my wonderful hubby and greatest daddy to our 3 beautiful kids!

We had a great day together today!! We had a nice morning at home with the kids. Ella was at her Dad’s house until this morning so we got to sleep in a little (she is our early bird). We then went to meet the family at Congo River mini golf in Schaumburg. We played a “round of golf” with the girls, Grandpa Mark, Grandpa Lee, Grandma Sue, Aunt Jill, and Uncle John. The boys were carried along too. The girls had a blast trying to hit golf balls. Kiley resorted to kicking them into the holes. She also pooped out after about 10 holes and went to join Grandma Marsha in the car. We all went out to lunch at Fridays after that and were joined by Steve and Amber. We all had a lot of fun spending time together!

On our way home, Ella said the cutest thing to Matt. She told him she loved him and he reciprocated. She then responded with “Daddy, but I think I love you more.” We are really all so lucky to have him in our lives!! He is the best husband and father!!

We hope you all had a great day as well!! Check back soon for some pictures from today.

    Surgery/Mother’s Day

    Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

As most of you know by now, I had to have my gallbladder removed last Friday. I guess it’s an Evenson woman thing since my sister had hers out in February, my mom in late March and now me. Crazy!!! I started having symptoms that Monday and tried to ignore it for a few days. I started having a lot of pain and feeling really sick so decided to just go into the ER to have all of the tests done and see the surgeon right away. Sure enough, the gallbladder needed to be removed. I got to go home that night and come in for out patient surgery the next day.

I seriously thought that this surgery was going to be no big deal since I had just been through a C Section. There was no way it could be anywhere near as bad as that. YEAH RIGHT! Believe it or not, this has been a much more difficult recovery than the C Section in my opinion. I just feel that it is much more painful and difficult to move with having 4 incisions all over my abdomen and having an organ actually removed I guess. I have been home all week from work. Thankfully, our families have helped out a ton with the kiddos. Grandma Debbie picked the girls up from day care on Friday and Connor spent the day with Grandma Marsha, Aunt Jill, and cousin Jakey. My mom, sister, and John helped out on Monday as well here at the house since the kids don’t go to day care on Mondays and Matty had a big presentation at work.

Matt has been SO awesome through this whole ordeal. He has been taking such good care of me, doing everything that needs to be done with the kids, taking care of the house, and having an enormous amount of things going on at work at the same time! We are all SO lucky to have him!!!

On a side note, I had a wonderful Mother’s day! Because I was only 2 days post-op, everyone stopped by here for a little while to hang out with us. We had My parents, John, Jill, and Jakey, Donny, Debbie, and Aunt Lori here with us. It was kind of an improptu little party. It was nice to just visit for a little while before taking a nice afternoon family nap. All in all, it was a great day, and I felt very special. I am so blessed to be the mommy of 3 amazing kids!!

So I have a few more days to recover and then its back to work next week. Let’s see how that goes :)

Also, my parents moved into an awesome new house in Schaumburg last weekend! We are so happy for them. It is such a nice place and I know we will all be gathering there often. We actually already had our first gathering there last night with all of us and Aunt Marsha, Aunt Lora and Grandma. Thanks Mom for a yummy dinner!! It was nice to visit with Auntie Lora one more time before she headed home to Mexico this morning. It is always nice when she comes to visit but that time goes way too fast!
